After a website overhaul and a fresh new blog, we are so excited to share our knowledge and expertise with you in a series of posts which delve into the world of antiques and collectibles.

The Southside Antiques Centre was established in 1983 and has been in the McGuigan family since 1986. With a large collection of highly experienced dealers and a huge variety and quantity of goods to purchase, the centre has grown to be renowned as one of the best in the country.

The centre was built on the site of the famous Lunn’s cake shop and is the subject of two well-known books; Over the Top With Jim and Head Over Heels. Hugh Lunn wrote the stories about his parents, Fred and Olive, and their shop in his autobiographical books which depict Annerley in the 1940’s and 50’s.

The Lunn’s premises was bought by Woolworths in the 1950’s where they built a large variety store which is now the housing for The Southside Antiques Centre.

Now there are two large floors inside this treasure trove of antiques and collectibles with Furniture, China, Jewellery, Clothing and much more including a large Militaria section.
